How common is rosacea?
Rosacea affects approximately 3% of the population (EU). It mainly affects people over the age of 30. Many factors contribute to rosacea and couperose. Scientists are exploring the following possibilities:
- genetic characteristics (more frequent in fair-skinned people,
- an abnormal reaction of the blood microvessels to heat,
- the excessive presence of mites on the skin of the face, which promotes inflammation.
Some climatic or dietary factors favor Rosacea:
- soverexposure to sun and wind,
- low/high temperatures, sudden thermal changes,
- intense physical exercise heats up the body
- fever,
- extremely hot baths,
- overconsumption of spicy food, hot drinks or alcohol,
Depending on the physiognomy, the use of perfumed products containing alcohol on the skin or the use of certain medications can aggravate the already existing rosacea.
